If you like Bounty, Almond Joy, or coconut and chocolate then you will love these homemade bounty bars. They are so easy to make with only 3 simple ingredients and they taste even better than the ones you buy!
Ingredients:
1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1/3 cup of sweetened condensed milk
Chocolate melts
***Note: you can use regular chocolate as well but if you do not temper your chocolate first it will not set hard, it will be soft and melt easily***
Directions:
In a bowl mix together the coconut and the condensed milk. Mix until it is well combined and the coconut sticks to itself. Wet your hands slightly (so the coconut won't stick to them) and take a table spoon sized amount of the mixture and mold it into a small rectangular shape (go ahead an roll it into a cylinder or ball if that's easier for you).
You can add almonds to the top if you want it to be like an Almond Joy. Place the pieces onto a piece of parchment paper and place them in the freezer for a minimum of 15 minutes.
When you're ready to take the bars out of the freezer, in a bowl melt some of your melts in the microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.
Place one bar at a time into the chocolate, and flip it until all the sides are covered. I find it helpful to use two forks to do this, then remove the bar and gently tap the fork on the side of the plate to remove any excess chocolate.
Return the covered bar to the parchment paper and continue with the others.
Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature, this only takes about 10 minutes if you are using the melts. For something a little different, try toasting the almonds first. Make sure to make lots of these, they're so addictive you won't be able to stop yourself from going back for more.
