I made these cupcakes for a gender reveal party (blue for boy) but they're a great idea for Valentine's Day or any other special occasion. This is a tutorial on how to make these cupcakes only so I won't be providing you with a recipe for a cupcake mix or frosting. I will probably provide those in posts to come :) What to do: Preheat oven to 325 °F. Using your favourite cupcake recipe or mix, take 1/3rd of the prepared cupcake mix and put in a medium sized bowl and add your colour of choice. This will be the center heart. Once you get the mix to the desired colour pour the mix into a cake pan and bake according to the recipe.Remove from oven and let cool. Using a heart shaped cookie cutter cut your coloured cake.Place paper liners in your muffin pan and drop a quarter sized drop of the uncoloured cupcake mix into your pan. Place your coloured heart on top and pour more of the mix directly onto the coloured cake. Do not fill to the top of the pan because the cake will rise but do make sure that no coloured cake is showing other wise it will show once the cupcakes have baked.
Bake according to your recipe but remember the middle part of your cupcake is already cooked so the cook time will be approximately 10 minutes less. Remove from oven allow to cool and frost with your favourite frosting.
**Note: I made a cut along the cupcake so people would know which way to cut the cupcake so that the heart would be exposed**
